Have you ever seen a little bird in your backyard…
… hopping around, happily chasing worms?
… simply living their own version of life, avoiding the cats, and hounding the bigger predatory birds?
Then you already have an inkling of what I mean by “DOING BIRD.”

Doing bird means doing you and only you and letting everything else shatter.
Everything that is not you will slough off.

Everything that is inauthentic will not be able to stand you: People, places and things to mind, body and spirit.
You will go through an ejection much like the person who quits smoking goes through a “smoker’s flu.”
It is the body adjusting.
All of the dirty Rascals have been ousted from their hiding spaces in the deep dark recesses of your cells.
They are now in the lymph system and in the blood, but are now circulating and have collected to toxic levels prior to your liver and kidneys performing their obligatory temperance functions.
The hardest part will be losing most of your friends, including one or more of your besties.
The hardest part will be your family will think that you are crazy. And they will treat you as such. They may even shun you.
But the hardest part is that you will begin to see the world as crazy. Because at every step, at every turn, you will begin to see things that you never saw before. These will be things that have been revealed to you through your new not-so-Rose-Colored glasses.
But the hardest part is that you may even burn out and hit rock bottom.
You may fully achieve the lowest spot you’ve ever felt in your life.
You might even feel like you didn’t bounce.
You may feel like you simply landed with a thud.
But the hardest part is that when you get there, you really just don’t know what to do.
Because at this point it feels like you jumped out of an airplane without a parachute and started building it on the way down.
Except you had no materials and you had to gather them in flight.
And the hardest part about that is that there aren’t any directions for assembly like you were at ikea.
It’s as if someone just told you not only does Santa Claus not exist, a conspiracy of lies including family members created the false scenario.
And then the hardest part probably is when you do really start to open up your eyes and Trust your heart, your gut and your instincts.
This is the beginning of self love.
And that sux because you learn that somebody tricked you, and taught you ways to mistrust your own intuition.
And instead you see you followed them down a rabbit hole of deformity.
But probably the hardest part, is when you start to see your true authentic self-reflection in the mirror …
When you’ve done the work …
When you’ve got down to the deep dark dirty places.
When you’ve gotten down into the muck and the mud.
When you’ve played with your own crap. Squished it in your hands and got it embedded underneath your fingernails.
When you’ve smeared on your face, tasted it for what it’s worth.
That’s when you begin.
That’s when you start to know yourself.
That’s when self-love comes about.
Because that goes hand in hand with self-acceptance.
Write this down.
You will never fully love yourself so long as you do not accept yourself.

You will continue to struggle to accept yourself until you get to truly know yourself.
So the trick is indeed to get to know yourself on that deep dark level.
Then the “work” becomes accepting yourself for who you have become, forgiving yourself for the transgressions of your past, and using this as your impetus to make a decision to move forward.
The moment at which you truly, in your heart, make that decision as a CORE DESIRE at 100%…
THAT is the moment at which the universe will begin tilting in your favor.
THAT is the moment at which you will, not unlike the phoenix, begin your EPIC RISE.
THAT is the moment at which people will begin to take notice.
THAT is the moment at which people will begin to start taking you seriously. Well, some of them. Lol.
Most of them will continue to see you as being small.

Because, after all, that is all you have portrayed yourself to be.
And perhaps that is all you were.
That means nothing now.
What you are now is all that what matters now.
It is your I AM.
It is your identity.
It is your Authentic Self.
Who all have you denied yourself to be in order to become who you were?
E.g.) How many futures did you reject?
Who all must you now reject in order to become who you truly are?
THAT is doing bird.
ARE YOU THAT PHOENIX?
Are you ready to rise?

The bird does not run around doing tiger things.
The bird does not run around doing fish things.
The bird does not envy the humans, nor does it industriously fear the predators.
It simply goes about its business of doing bird things.
Of course it stays on alert, that is its nature.
Of course it stays active, that is its nature.
Of course it produces things, that is its nature.
It builds a nest.
It searches daily for food.
It sings It’s song.
It makes babies.
It has a holographic existence – Mind Body & Spirit.
It learns.
It experiences life.
It has gratitude and appreciation for the past while simultaneously anticipating the future.
It lives in the here and the now daily without dwelling on things not currently in its realm – its current sphere of influence.
It gets up in the morning and it sets about its daily routine.
It is accepting of the gifts of the day.
It is reactive to the things that need its attention.
It is proactive to the things that need its attention.
It rests when it’s weary.
It sings when it’s joyful, or even perhaps when it’s down to lift its own spirits.
It expresses love, desire, friendship.
Companionship.
Group companionship.
Group dynamics.
Group love.
Group contribution.
It exists singly in the moment, fully aware of its own sphere of influence, while simultaneously sharing the existence not only with the rest of the bird group but as well as co-existing with the ecosystem as a whole.
It observes the eight statutes of balance in order to maintain health and vitality and to protect itself from harm.
You may know these eight statutes as eight doctors, or eight medicines, or perhaps even the Eight Angels Of Natural Balance.
It is NEWSTART.
I just call it God’s way of teaching us that he loves us.
The bird is an expert at receiving.
The bird is an expert at accepting the gifts of wisdom that come from beyond.
The bird has gratitude and expresses appreciation through changed behavior.
The bird does not dwell on the events of the past but uses them as a stepping stone to Future greatness.
The bird does not fret much about the things that may come, it simply has a daily plan and sticks to it.
It fully embodies a daily MINDSET that echoes that of its successful human counterpart.
You may observe the bird rise with gratitude and appreciation while greeting the new day.
You may observe the bird focus on priorities and get started knocking out the first two or three.
You will see the bird eat.
You will see the bird going about its daily, repetitious chores with penultimate consistency.
She is a master of the mundane.
In your daily experience, how much are you doing bird, and how much are you doing another’s bidding?
Who is YOUR master? (Wink!)
You may choose to pause, rest and reflect during the day.
You may eat again.
You may sing your song.
You may get proper sunlight.
You may rest and “sharpen your axe” … eat … avoid pitfalls … get enough air and water throughout the day.
You must have trust in God, then all you have to do is lather, rinse and repeat.
This is a “doing bird” mindset.
Your positive mentality and daily incremental progress will pay you dividends over the course of time.
It will train you in ways you have no idea, the discipline and can-do attitude have an immense effect not only upon your spirit, but also upon your subconscious.
This in turn helps to direct your daily habits, your life habit force.
My first Mentor told me that if you want to go fast, go slow …
… and if you want to go very fast, go very slow.
He said but, on the other hand, if you want to go slow, then just try going fast.
I took it to heart.
He told me as f’d up as I was, it was going to take me a some time to get my ship righted, to get my wagon out of the ditch.
He told me that it was going to take me that long to surrender to my ego.
He was unconditionally correct.
Joe told me that I was never going to make it with the attitude that I had.
It blew me away. I had no clue what he was talking about, I thought I was slick.
There were two things that he recognized inside of me.
NUMBER ONE. I continued to look outside of me instead of inward. This was a sign that my ego was ahead of my ambition.
NUMBER TWO. I cared what other people thought of me. This was a reflection that I did not think I deserved success and would forever self-sabotage.
